"SPACE WEEK" HAS STARTED

Space and aviation technologies from Serbia at the exhibition in Dubai

Serbian innovative products - simulators for astronauts, drones, parts for airplanes and aircraft, as well as other high-tech innovations will be shown to the visitors during the second theme week of the World Exhibition "Expo 2020 Dubai" dedicated to space (Space Week) which begins today and lasts until October 22. This week, Serbia will also present itself at the "Gitex" and "Gitex Future Stars" fairs, and our achievements at all these events will be promoted by a delegation consisting of some 120 business persons.

"With us in Dubai are 27 companies from the metal, electrical and IT sectors that deal with space and aircraft technologies, production of “mini” satellites (CubeSat), as well as technologically innovative startups and companies in the field of development and research. They have a great opportunity to present their innovative products and make business deals with companies from all over the world," said Ana Raičević, secretary of the Association for the Metal Industry of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS).

According to her, space is not a theme that we would connect with the Serbian economy at first, but the interest in "Space Week" and the large business delegation staying in Dubai are a clear sign that there is potential for further development in the field of space technologies.

Business people participating in the second theme week today visited the PKS Business Hub in Dubai where they got acquainted with the conditions for doing business in the UAE, procedures and opportunities for founding companies.

"I am sure that our businessmen will take the opportunity to use the services of the PKS Business Hub for free for organizing business meetings, presentations and negotiating new business deals. Some 4,000 companies from different sectors operate in the Free Zone of Dubai, where this hub is located, which presents yet another advantage for our companies,” Raičević added.

Our entrepreneurs see the appearance at the World Exhibition in Dubai as a great opportunity and an additional impetus for the internationalization of their business.

Marija Dragović, director of the company "Wing", which manufactures parts for aviation industry and wind farms, says that the appearance at the theme week "Space" is a great opportunity to find new business partners, given that the company is 90 percent export-oriented. "Being part of the Serbian delegation in Dubai is an opportunity to promote the company to numerous foreign visitors, as well as to present ourselves to the Asian market, we have not cooperated with before," Dragovic points out.

The company Pink Research and Development Center presents drones IKA-20 and IKA-01, with a carrying capacity of 20 kilograms and one kilogram respectively, which are intended for various special missions, such as firefighting, transport of medical materials and equipment. "The drones were designed and manufactured in our company. We want to present the company and our products internationally and connect with clients, " said Tijana Petrašinović Mileta, the company's director.

The "GITEX" fair, the largest technological event in the region of the Middle East and North Africa, started in Dubai today, and 11 companies and institutions from Serbia are ready to present there their achievements and innovations in the field of ICT.

With the support of the Government and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, six of our startups were given the opportunity to participate in the "GITEX Future Stars 2021" - a manifestation dedicated to the development of startups. All startups have the opportunity to apply for the "Supernova Challenge", where the best will be awarded with as much as 200,000 dollars.
